GJC’s BSA, BSAT and BSBA Attended PFRS Seminar

In pursuit of wisdom to gain an insight regarding some changes with the current Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS’s), particularly in the field of Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s), and to have an undergraduate preparation for the 2012 CPA Board Examination, the General de Jesus College’s “CPA’s on the Making” together with their respected mentors Mr. Ken Gie Anthony Cruel, and Mrs. Marciana Espinoza, took pride and attended the seminar: Philippine Financial Reporting Standards for Small and Medium Enterprise (PFRS for SME’s) at Holy Angel University, Angeles City, Pampanga on the 7th day of January in the year of our Lord 2011.
The event was one of the projects of the National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants Region III Council (NFJPIA-R3), and was headed and made possible by its current president Ms. Joana Marie D.C. Bautista, in cooperation with the SGV Ernst & Young, one of the largest auditing firms in the country today.
Aside from the full-blooded JPIAN’s (B.S. in Accountancy and Accounting Technology, both were in the 3rd Year level), Business Administration Students also graced the said seminar.
The Attendees Left Nueva Ecija at approximately 7:15 a.m. and arrived at the said venue 15 min. before its formal start. Other Participants were JPIAN’s from the following Institutions: Angeles University Foundation, Baliuag University, Republic Central College, Holy Angel University (Host School), Meycauayan College, and Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Sta. Maria, Bulacan.
Mr. Benjamine Villacorte, CPA from SGV Ernst & Young stood as the lecturer.
We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank the entire staff of the General de Jesus College for continually bringing opportunities to its family members- we, the students.
The seminar’s outline (Full PFRS vs. PFRS for SMEs) consists of: Accounting Framework and first time adoption; Financial Statements; Income and Expenses; Financial Assets and Liabilities; Non Financial Assets; Non-Financial Liabilities and Equity; and other topics.
At the end, the event together with its humorous, light but mind-cracking atmosphere brought out the passion within its every participant’s heart. Passion that is innate in every JPIAN. JPIAN that doesn’t just want to top every quiz, every term exam, mock board and the real thing- the actual CPA Board Examination, but to pass, excel and be NUMBER 1 on every trials that life may bring. Thankfully an “INSTITUTION” exists with high dreams not just about yielding high financial returns, but about making its share in the community.
